HOW ARE THE OBSTACLE RACES GOING AHEAD?

We are only proceeding with these events under strict measures which have been approved by our Local Authority and adhere to Government guidelines. In order to comply with and offer our #NUCLEARFAMILY the safest experience we are taking the following steps:

  • We are reducing our maximum event capacity from 4,000 to 1,200 racers.
  • We are operating a strict social distancing one way system, touchless check-in, temperature checking, track & trace and wave/group sizes of 5 people released every 2 minutes.
  • Every racer will need to wear a face covering (mask or neck buff which will not fall off) so the 1 metre plus social distance rule can be adhered to.  It must be worn when entering registration, in the start holding pen, at the start/finish line, whilst completing all obstacles & if a cough or sneeze is imminent but it may be removed for running.
  • All obstacles will be routinely sanitised after every group.
  • Racers are encouraged to use the full width of every obstacle & keep apart at all times.
  • Sanitisers will be available throughout the event.
  • Limiting obstacles which have high surface contact/grip which trickier to clean thoroughly.
WHAT’S DIFFERENT?
  • There is a new online ticket price to reflect the event change due to Covid-19
  • There will be no event village, food/drinks to purchase, live music, shops, camping, services, spectators or the usual nuclear atmosphere or banging mass event experience.
  • There will be no bag-drop, changing tent, hot showers or drink at the finish.
  • There will be no finisher #MUDDYMUG (or cup of tea at the finish) but there will be a 2020 survivor vest instead (Scimitar brand, technical fabric, men/women styles).
  • There will be one survivor photo at the finish, but none from around the course.
  • There will be no photo recognition service.
  • There will be reduced Blast/Blackout obstacles – approx 20 instead of 30
  • There will be no Rigs & we will limit the amount of touch point obstacles
  • A maximum of 5 racers will start together.  You will not be permitted to meet up with other groups of racers on the course so choose your 4 #LOVEMUD buddies to register/run with or you may not be able to start with your buddies.

Blackout is 5km multi-lap obstacle loaded night race. This race will launch you out of your comfort zone. It ‘ll lead you in unknown territories, testing all of your senses to the maximum as you negotiate endless & overwhelming obstacles by the light of a headtorch.  This course is designed to challenge some basic fears including darkness & heights as well as testing strength, endurance, agility, stamina & all round fitness in the harshest conditions & over the toughest obstacles. Determination, focus and a powerful mindset is needed to endure Nuclear’s night time challenge in the mud. Starting at sunset, this lap race moves quickly from dusk light into total darkness.

CAN I STILL CLAIM THE BEASTMODE REWARD FOR COMPLETING BLAST & BLACKOUT 2020?

The simple answer is YES, but under the recent exceptional circumstances we have unfortunately been unable to ship the 2020 medal rack as hoped so this year it will be the Beastmode bobble hat reward as per 2019.
