Race Details

Choose from 6km or 12km course distances over ultra-gritty, properly muddy, obstacle-loaded farmland set in the heart of the Secret Bunker Estate, Essex.

Nuclear’s well known for delivering award winning events with big, high quality man-made obstacles designed to challenge and test every ability of fitness on fast-paced, flowing, punishing courses over epic natural, varied terrain. Expect the infamous Deathslide, Zip-lines & World’s longest monkey-bars (Gorilla Bars) at this event.

Join us for a chilled OCR festival weekend packed with obstacle racing for all the family (Rookie kids included), camping, live music & entertainment for all ages.

Event Format

  1. The course distances are 6km & 12k. This event is NOT a lap race.
  2. Your wave will be made up of 6 & 12k runners. You will run together until 6k where 12k runners will split. There’ll be warning signs, arrows and a Nuclear marshal at the split to guide you.
  3. There are 90+ obstacles on the 12k, 50+ on the 6k courses.
  4. Attempt as many or as few obstacles as you like – it’s your challenge!
  5. There are no penalties for failing or missing out an obstacle (except the Gorilla Bars)

Before the day

On the day

The Course

  1. Water depth: Water on the course is around 5’ deep depending on weather conditions. There are Water Operative/Marshalls in the water at the Deathslide obstacle.
  2. Swimming: water obstacles need a small element of swimming ability
  3. Water Stations: There are 4 x mains connected water-stations on12k course & 3 x water-stations on 6k. There’s x 1 water-station in the event village.
  4. Litter: We do not supply energy gels/foods. If you use them, please be mindful of our countryside & eat them either at an obstacle or put in the bin at water stations.
  5. Marshalls: are clearly marked in yellow hi-viz Nuclear Races jackets & are at all major obstacles on the course to keep you safe & guide you.

Obstacle Angels: A number of experienced obstacle racers will be on the courses ready to guide & advise #NukerNewbies or seasoned racers at trickier obstacles – where technique helps. Angels are marked in white hi-viz jackets.

Spectators

We encourage you to bring your friends & family to come along & watch free of charge. They’ll need to sign in at registration before entering the event village.

Spectators are reminded that entering our private land is at their own risk. The entire event is Health & Safety checked prior to & throughout race day. Spectators must make their own decision as to whether they can reach or undertake the journey to spectating areas, which due to the nature of the sport, may be on uneven terrain.

There are excellent spectator obstacle viewing areas in & around the village (first 2k & last 2k). A course map in event village shows spectator accessible zones. Follow the black spectator signs to designated viewing areas. There’s no access to the full course due to safety concerns. Please tell your supporters to adhere to the No Entry signs & not to walk across fields of crops. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome, please clear up after them.
